CYBERCRIME- EFCC Testifies To Extracting Several Credit Card Numbers From Naira Marley`s iPhone
Popular Nigerian music star Azeez Fashola AKA
Naira Marley was tried in court on 11 count charges bordering on conspiracy,
fraud, possession of counterfeit cards, etc. The trial began on Tuesday,
October 26th at the federal high court in Lagos.
It was after the
singer released the song “Am I a yahoo boy”
that the anti-graft agency arraigned the singer. The anti-graft agency
stated that the offenses were commited between November 26, 2018, and December
11 2018 as well as on May 10, 2019.
The anti-graft agency
also alleged that the singer and his friends conspired to use different ATM
cards to defraud their victims. They also claimed that he had counterfeit credit
cards belonging to different people to use them to defraud people.
The second prosecution witness Anosike
Augustine a mobile forensic expert with the EFCC also brought forth her
testimony before the court.
Anosike told the court how they analyzed around
2,410 messages from the iPhone of the defendant and how numerous credit cards
numbers were extracted from the iPhone.
The witness read out some credit cards numbers obtained from his phone
as well as the OTP codes sent. Je also stated the dates on which the credit
card numbers were sent.
After his testimony, the prosecutor informed the court that all
the analyzed messages were contained in a compact disc and that the prosecution
had only printed out those portions for the case.
The case has been adjourned till tomorrow October 27 2021 by justice Nicola Oweibo.
